YOUNG Malmesbury rider Emily Irvine capped a splendid series of results with qualification for the Olympia International Horse Show later in the year.

Competing on board her pony Bunbury Conquest at the British Showjumping National Championships earlier this month, Irvine produced three clear rounds to book a place at Olympia, which is to be held in London just before Christmas.

Irvine’s fine run of form began when she qualified Bunbury Conquest for the Horse of the Year Show in October after beating 50 of the best young rider-and-pony combinations in the country.

That result saw the 10-year-old rewarded as the youngest team member to be selected to represent England at Scotland’s home pony international show.

Once at the competition in Edinburgh, Irvine jumped the only double-clear round to secure a gold medal.

Following that, the Sherston Primary School pupil was in action at the All England Showjumping Club’s Hickstead International Arena, where a double-clear round saw her finish fifth despite being the youngest competitor in the line-up.
