WROUGHTON remain at the top of the Wiltshire League Premier Division table following a 3-0 win away at Shrewton United last weekend.

The victory on the road extends the reigning champions' perfect record this term to eight wins from eight games.

Reigan Cook put Wroughton ahead at the break before the Weir Field side took control in the second period as Shane Hibbert struck twice, including once from the penalty spot, to wrap up all three points.

Purton are Wroughton’s nearest challengers in second place, although they had to overcome a stiff challenge at home to Kintbury Rangers before finally securing a 5-3 success.

Shaun Thorp and Russell Benham gave Kintbury a 2-1 lead at the break but Purton turned the game around in the second half to take all three points.

Joe English (2), Will Backhouse, Tom McCulloch and Jack Duckers were all on target for the winners, with Josh Davis getting Rangers’ other goal.

At the bottom, Pewsey Vale Development’s tough start to the season continued at home to Trowbridge Town as they were thrashed 6-0.

Aaron Masson led the way with a brace, while Jordan Gullis, Frankie Elliott, Tom Caldicott and Natti Morgan were also on target.

Third-placed Corsham Town Reserves also hit the goal trail as they triumphed 6-1 away at Marlborough Town.

Two goals from Ryan Withers, plus one for each of Dan Lardner, Ryan Tyrell and Jake Dodge gave Corsham a 5-0 lead at half-time. Aaron Presley cut the gap for Marlborough after the break but any thoughts of a stunning comeback were killed off when Withers struck again to complete his hat-trick.

Stratton Juniors edged out visitors Cricklade Town 2-1.

Nathaniel Harrison and Adam Bright netted for Stratton as Jonathan Peachey-Score replied.

It was honours even when Malmesbury Victoria Development hosted their Royal Wootton Bassett Town counterparts as that game ended 1-1.

Steve Shaw put Bassett in front but George Stone levelled to earn Malmesbury a point.

Finally, Melksham Town Reserves shared a 0-0 draw at home to Holt.
