MELKSHAM Town drew for the third match in a row in Southern League Division One South after their trip to Larkhall Athletic on Saturday ended 2-2.

The result follows another 2-2 draw at home to AFC Totton seven days earlier, while Melksham’s previous league game before that was a 0-0 draw at home to Bristol Manor Farm all the way back on November 2.

Richard Fey’s side looked on course for victory in Bath at the weekend as they built up an impressive 2-0 cushion at half-time.

Phil Ormrod broke the deadlock midway through the first half before Aidan Chainey doubled the advantage 10 minutes before the break.

Larkhall battled back in the second period, though, and Dale Evans cut the deficit half-an-hour after the interval.

Melksham were able to hold off the hosts’ attempts at an equaliser for a while, however, Alex Lambert struck in the dying stages to ensure the contest finished honours even.

The point takes Melksham’s tally onto 11 from 13 league games this season and leaves them fourth from bottom in the table.

Fey’s side go on the road again this weekend as they travel to bottom side Barnstaple Town.
