SWINDON skipper Jason Doyle just missed out on Polish Ekstraliga individual glory in Torun.

Doyle, who takes his place in the Grand Prix series chasing a second world title next week, finished runner-up to current World Champion Batrosz Zmarzlik at the Marian Rose Motoarena.

Doyle was representing Czestochowa as was Leon Madsen who finished third.

The CFS Filtration Robins legend said: “It felt really good to be back on the rostrum in Torun.

“I’d like to thank all my true supporters for their continued backing. We have been through some tough moments but when times are good you enjoy them together.”

Doyle is enjoying some good scores in Poland on a regular basis at his new club which puts him in good shape ahead of the opening weekend of the Grand Prix.

The series takes place with back-to-back Friday and Saturday rounds over four weekends starting on August 28 and ending in Torun on October 3.

Doyle will then return to the UK and is expected to be selected for Australia for the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations at Belle Vue at the end of October.

Swindon’s programme publishers have produced an impressive 52 page guide to the Grand Prix series which includes racecards for all eight meetings and an in-depth interview with Doyle, plus a host of statistics. It is available to order now from curtis-sport.com and will be delivered in time for the opening round if ordered this week.
