CHIPPENHAM Town will play neighbours Hungerford Town on the opening day of the 2020-21 National League South season.

The Bluebirds will make the short journey down the M4 on Tuesday October 6 as manager Mike Cook takes charge of a competitive game for the first time since being appointed manager on a permanent basis back in late March.

The former caretaker boss lead Chippenham to 12th place before the 2019-20 season was halted due to Covid-19 on March 16.

However, now that football is back underway, key dates are being set in stone and the National League South fixture list has been unveiled.

Chippenham face Hungerford on the opening day before welcoming Braintree Town to Hardenhuish Park on Saturday October 10.

Cook’s squad will travel to Dulwich Hamlet on the following Saturday ahead of their second home game of the month against Dartford Town on the 24th.

An away game against St Albans City rounds off Chippenham’s first five fixtures.

Bath City will be the visitors on Boxing Day while Chippenham head back to Somerset for the reverse fixture on January 2.

Cook’s squad is set to host Hungerford Town under the lights on Tuesday March 16.

Five more fixtures in May cap off the season with the Bluebirds’ final scheduled home game to take place against Billericay on Saturday 22 before an away day at Hemel Hempstead on Saturday May 29.
