AFTER dropping their first points of the season last week, normal service was resumed for Calne Town Reserves this week with an 8 – 0 thumping of Melksham Town ‘A’ at the top of The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division One. Josh McGory helped himself to a brace and single efforts from Tom Boakes, Adam Sulivan, Billy Gleed, Jake Allen, Ali Bradley and Mark Dolman kept up Calne’s title campaign.

In-form Freshford faced Three Daggers and in an extremely hard-fought encounter Three Daggers came away with the points winning by the odd goal in seven. Daggers went into a two-goal lead before Jack Sterling pulled one back for Freshford thanks to an assist from Hayden Atkins. Sterling grabbed his second from the spot to level the game before Three Dagger scored a third just before the break. Directly after the restart Daggers scored again to increase their advantage to two before Jack Booth reduced the arrears for Freshford making the final score 3 – 4. Brandon Wheeler scored twice for Three Daggers with Jordan Kirk and Phil Hampson weighing in with one each.

Warminster Town Reserves will be the happier of the two sides after their 2 – 2 draw with neighbours Warminster United. Ashley Caws struck first for United tapping in after a 30-yard shot from Joe Martin came back to him after hitting the post. Kieron Edwards added the second for United when he headed home from a Brendan Hind corner. Things got worse for Warminster Town Reserves when Oli Mcferran saw red after twenty minutes, but they hauled themselves back into the match and strikes from Max Whittaker and Joe Dufosee earned them a share of the points.

DIVISION TWO

The game of the day in The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division Two saw leaders Westbury United Reserves host second place Staverton United and the game more than lived up to its billing with a highly entertaining 3 – 3 draw. With Westbury fielding a strong team including some first teamers Staverton proved themselves more than a match for their host with a double from Harry Ledbury and an own goal giving them a hard-earned point. Jordan Pinder also helped himself to a brace with Adam Kenich completing the scoring for Westbury. The result keeps Westbury United Reserves at the top of the table, but Staverton are keeping them honest two points behind with a game in hand.

Calne Eagles kept up their promotion challenge with an exciting 4 – 3 win to inflict a first league defeat of the season on Bromham in the Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division Two. Eagles started fast, racing into a two-goal lead with strikes from Ben Cartmell. Bromham refused to lie down and fought back well with efforts from Caleb Englefield and James Tinnion to level the score before the break. After the restart Calne Eagles regained the lead when a long goal kick from Tom Bull was knocked on by Brett Cullen for Adam Welch to score. In an end-to-end match Bromham came back yet again with Todd Buckley making the score 3 – 3. With ten minutes remaining Jake Mizen received the ball, turned two players and struck the ball straight over the keeper into the net to collect the points for Calne Eagles. The result leaves Calne Eagles sitting nicely in third place in the league, five points behind leaders Westbury but with two games in hand.

After last weekends excellent cup win, Trowbridge Town Reserves good form continued this week with a first league victory of the season beating in-form The Stiffs 3 – 1. Kieran Balchin, Hamza Redan and Harvey Frisby scored the goals to bring a welcome win for Trowbridge Town Reserves. Jake Davies was on the scoresheet for The Stiffs.
