CORSHAM skipper Pete Dennett saluted teammate Mike Coles as his side claimed their fourth Wadworth 6X West of England League Premier One victory on the trot as they crushed Bridgwater by eight wickets at Station Road.
Dennett's men are third in an increasingly-congested top of the table after Wiltshire skipper Coles plundered an unbeaten 150 off 106 balls against his old club to guide them home in 39 overs.
Coles’ destructive knock included 12 fours and 12 sixes. Dennett said: “It was a brilliant inning from Mike Coles which was a pleasure to watch.
“Everybody knows his talent levels but it was very pleasing for Mike, who has been keen for that big score, to do it against his old teammates.’’ Earlier, Bridgwater openers Merv Halloran and Robbie Montgomery scored 57 and 49 respectively as they visitors made a good start having elected to bat.
A late unbeaten 41 off 24 balls by number 10 Cameron Williams boosted their total up to 244 all out after Corsham's bowlers had struck back, Ashur Morison taking 3-16 and Tom Foley, Joe King and Jon Parker taking two wickets each.
Toby Davies (30) and Coles put on a stand of 100 for the opening wicket and although Morrison fell for 13, wicketkeeper Steve Bullen (28 not out) helped Corsham home.
Dennett added: “We’re really pleased to make it four wins on the trot. We battled hard in the field when we were not firing at 100 per cent with the ball.
Corsham go to fellow-in-form side Downend this weekend and Dennett said: “(They) beat us handily earlier this year. As a result of that we go there with due respect for their abilities but full of confidence and keen to right the wrong.’’
