One of rhythm and blues’ greatest harmonica players, Billy Boy Miskimmin, is playing in Bradford on Avon on Sunday afternoon with his own band Mercy Lounge, formed after he moved on from 9 Below Zero and The Yardbirds.

The Yardbirds’ farewell tour plays the Cheese and Grain in Frome on Saturday night: here, live and local, is the chance to hear for free the man whose solos became one of their most distinctive features after he joined them in 2003.

Mercy Lounge really are a local act. The current line-up includes guitarist Jay Simms and well known and respected bassman Dave Aaronson, who both call Bradford home.

Appearing with them is Ady Milward, who regularly drums with Mick Taylor of the Stones and also appears with Jools Holland.

Miskimmin tours with the band from his Northern ireland base, aiming to bring to local audiences the talent and magic which made him part of rock and blues aristocracy.

If you can’t get to see them this Sunday, the band also have a gig booked at the Rising Sun in Bradford on Avon on March 28.
