THE Adver’s campaign to help the unemployed in Swindon has been supported by South Swindon MP Robert Buckland.
He said: “I applaud the Adver for their Get Swindon Working campaign. Whilst unemployment remains a challenge in our town, I am convinced that we have every reason to be optimistic for the future.
“The latest unemployment statistics have shown another fall, and the number of people in work is increasing.
“I talk to businesses in Swindon all the time, and most of them tell me that the economic climate is improving.
“For instance footfall in the town centre is increasing, bucking the national trend, which is very positive news for retailers and their employees.
“We can’t be complacent of course. We have had some high-profile job losses in Swindon. I always work hard to help those affected, as well as banging the drum for Swindon to secure new employment opportunities in the long term.
“Swindon has always had a flexible, highly-skilled and motivated work force, and those attributes will serve us very well for the future.”
