HUNDREDS of children flocked to the Brunel Centre yesterday to have a picture and a cuddle with Mike The Knight.

The colourful CBeebies character was back in town by popular demand, meeting children and parents for 15 minutes every hour until 3.30pm.

Jane Stewart, marketing manager at the Brunel, said: “Mike The Knight has been popular with the children today at the Brunel.

“We have enjoyed hosting him and it’s lovely seeing the children’s faces light up when they get to meet their hero knight.”

The children’s knight in shining armour last visited the centre over the Christmas period, where he joined Santa and his reindeer crew as well as the Heart FM breakfast team to switch on the town centre lights.

But many children at the event were unable to have their photographs taken with the giant-headed champion, so his return meant that more children had an opportunity to meet him.

The visit was part of the Brunel’s summer holiday schedule, which has included a fun day every Wednesday from 11am to 3pm until August 28.

As part of the schedule children have met Major Krazy, The Professor and Texas Pete for a variety of different workshops.

Next Wednesday, youngsters can meet Captain Jack for workshops on the first floor at The Arcade outside House of Fraser.
