FROM 10am tomorrow donations of up to £10 made to ‘Big Breakfast +’ through localgiving.com will be doubled by matched funding.
Trustee of the Big Breakfast +, which was formerly known as Broadgreen Breakfast Club, Angus Macpherson, said: “We are delighted with this scheme at a time when we are cooking more breakfasts than ever.
“We have up to 40 people every day using the service and we know that there are more people sleeping rough in Swindon this year than last.”
Under the ‘Growing a Tenner’ scheme, an individual’s donation of up to £10 is doubled until the match fund of £500,000 is exhausted. With gift aid, every £10 given can be worth £22.50 to the charity.
Angus said: “Running the Big Breakfast + costs around £25,000 per annum or about £80 a day.
A donation through this scheme can make a tangible difference.”
Donations can be made at www.localgiving.com/charity/broadgreenbreakfastclub, but anyone wishing to make a donation is urged to hold off until 10am.
