Event will promote solar farm ahead of inquiry
A SECOND drop-in session about the upcoming public inquiry into plans for a solar park at Wroughton Airfield will be held on Saturday.
The event will take place at Ellendune Community Centre, from 1pm to 4pm.
The sessions will provide residents with information about the inquiry process and explain how they can get involved and show their support for the solar farm, which was called in for a public examination on April 2.
James Owen, commercial director at Swindon Commercial Services Ltd, said: “We had very good feedback from the first session. The community of Wroughton feels very strongly about the project, and wants to have their say in the public inquiry.
“We know that the Solar Park also has cross-party support. It’s great to see people putting aside their political differences to support a good community cause, so we have invited the election candidates along to demonstrate that.
“We’re also urging everyone to take a few minutes to write to the Planning Inspectorate. As well as providing guidance at the drop-in events, we’re distributing leaflets at key points in the village, and more information is available on our website.”
There will be a third and final session on May 15 at the White Hart between 6pm to 8pm.
