EGGELICIOUS opens its second Swindon takeaway in Wood Street today after weeks of anticipation, which included customers queuing down the street at an open evening last week.

For five years, the ‘slow food fast’ eaterie has been serving up healthy wraps for customers in the town centre’s Tented Market, but founder Ash Mistry has expanded to Old Town.

When sandwich shop Yummies closed its doors in March, after 31 years, a popular spot opened up on the thriving thoroughfare, and Ash has not wasted any time in plugging the gap.

Staff and contractors have been in overdrive for the past four weeks getting the outlet ready for opening at 10am this morning.

Luke Bevan, a crew member applying the finishing touches yesterday, said: “It’s coming along quickly. It has taken six weeks, but we are so close.

“We are just tying the last odds and ends up now. We are itching to get open.

“We had an open day on Thursday and the sort of crowd we pulled in that night was impressive.

“So much work has gone into getting this place ready. I would be working one day on painting, and the next day I would come in and find all the floor and wall tiling had been done.

“We have had two builders in here constantly in and out. It’s slowly coming to fruition now.”

Eggelicious in Wood Street, branded E2 by staff, will open from 10am until 8pm between Monday and Wednesday, and 10am to 10pm between Thursday and Saturday.
