TWO men who tried to burgle a branch of Lloyds Bank in Gorse Hill are wanted by police.

At around 8am on Tuesday April 24, the men were seen jumping onto Carpenters Lane from the flat roof at the rear of the bank on Cricklade Road.

A large hole was found in the roof and attempts to gain entry into the bank had clearly been made.

It is believed that the men got into a grey Ford Kuga and drove onto Chapel Street.

The car was found aflame in Florence Street.

Police enquiries found that the vehicle was being driven on false plates and had been stolen from the Liverpool area.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted burglary.

PC James Rodrigues, of the North Swindon Community Policing Team, said: “It is clear from the damage caused to the roof space that an attempt had been made to break into the bank.

"We believe the men had been disturbed whilst attempting to break in, and then made off from the scene.

“I’m keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the men jumping from the roof, or saw the vehicle being driven from the scene and later abandoned.
