A BUDDING actor from Highworth has won a place at a prestigious drama school.

Ethan Hughes will join the London Academy of Music and Drama in September to study acting on a foundation course after spending the last two years studying music performance and performing arts at Cirencester College

The 18-year-old said: “I'm so excited.

“The auditions themselves aren’t as scary as they seem, so long as you know your monologues, the plays they are from, and know some information on the drama schools you are auditioning at.

“The process of applying and auditioning for drama school can be daunting but having the support of talented lecturers and students definitely takes the weight off."

He'd studied drama school audition preparation during as part of his degree, so he was ready for whatever LAMDA staff could ask of him.

Ethan won the performing arts student of the year award at his college before he graduated.

He offered advice for other young performers who want to follow their dreams.

Ethan added: “My only advice is that even if you are in a room full of students and there is only one lecturer, you can still learn from every single person in that room, no matter what.

“Every performer has something you don’t have and vice versa.

"Learn as much as you can from as many people as you can and help each other become better performers.”

Ethan’s lecturer Alex Curry was full of praise for the LAMDA lad.

He said, “Ethan completed his performing arts with distinction stars, the highest grade possible.

“This is a result of his hard work, creativity, professionalism and superb motivation to learn and improve as a performer.

“Ethan has an exceptional level of professional conduct, intuition, commitment and creative skill.

“He has been a pleasure to work with for the last two years, producing some exquisite performances

“This is why Ethan is our performing arts student of the year and we wish him all the best in, what we are sure will be an incredibly successful future.”
