THE MP for Devizes has been called to court after his dog chased some deer in a royal park.
Daniel Kruger, 46, has been charged with an offence which took place in Richmond Park, London, on March 20 this year.
The charge is written as "Cause / permit a animal / bird in charge of to chase / worry / injure other animal in a royal park".
It says that on March 20, without "written permission from the Secretary of State", Mr Kruger permitted his dog, a Jack Russell, to "chase, worry or injure a large herd of fallow deer in Richmond Park".
It says this is "contrary to regulation 4(21) of the Royal Parks and Other Open Spaces Regulations 1997 and section 2 of the Parks Regulation (Amendment) Act 1926".
The maximum penalty for this offence is a £200 fine.
Mr Kruger said: "On a walk with my family in Richmond Park our dog Pebble got a few hundred yards ahead of us and started chasing a herd of deer.
"No animal was hurt and I quickly got him back on his lead. I am very sorry for any distress we caused the deer. I am unable to say anything further at this time as the matter is before the court."
The case has been adjourned.
