A milestone was reached when members of a local motor club celebrated its 60th anniversary.

Bath Motor Club is one of the leading motor clubs in Southern England serving motoring enthusiasts from across Bath and north and west Wiltshire.

Members held a special anniversary dinner at Cumberwell Park Golf Club in Bradford on Avon to celebrate the club’s formation in 1963.

In keeping with a motoring theme, the club arranged a classic tour around Wiltshire during the Sunday afternoon prior to the anniversary dinner in the evening.

Large helpings of nostalgia were on offer as rally, autocross and autotest competitors took interest in the cuttings, entry lists, and display boards illustrating the past 60 years of motor competition involving the club members.

Bath Motor Club chairman David Whittock, himself a former international rally coordinator, said: “Over this decade we have all had to learn the importance of documents, like risk assessments sustainability and safe guards and we have become the first motor club in the UK to receive sustainability accreditation from the governing body of motor sport.

“Over the next 10 years we need to generate new young blood and use younger ideas to move forward again.”
