POLICE have described the first day of Radio 1’s Big Weekend as a success with only 10 arrests being made throughout the day.
Hundreds of officers were drafted in to police the free music festival, which saw 20,000 music lovers pack into Lydiard Park.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said a small number of people had been arrested for possessing Class A drugs and two people had been arrested for assault.
The spokesman added that anyone wishing to access personal safety advice for the Big Weekend should log onto the force’s website www.wiltshire.police.uk.
