CHildren at Holy Rood Catholic Junior School were pleased their school managed to open yesterday.

Joel Kavanagh, nine, said: “I just wanted to keep up my 100 per cent attendance record.”

Kacie Codling, 10, said: “I’m really pleased that the school was open today so that I could play with my friends and have a good time.”

Caitlin Dooley, 10, said: “The snow is deeper than last year’s so it has been so much more fun.”

Akhil Pinto, 11, wanted to go to school. “It’s turned out to be a great decision. I have just loved throwing snowballs at the teachers,” she said.

Sarah Karpinski, 10, said: “I knew I would enjoy building a snowman with my friends so much more than I would have done at home with my sister who had the day off!”

Gareth Sutherland, seven, said: “Although my feet have got cold, I’m glad that I had the chance to come to school today.”

Gabriella Caruso, 11, said: “I only live across the road and would have been completely bored at home. It was brilliant taking part in the design and technology snowman building competition.”
