A TASTE of Spain will be coming to Old Town next week when Swindon's first tapas bar opens its doors to the public.

Tortilla, Jamon de Serrano, and chorizo will all be on the menu at the new Wood Street venue called Los Gatos.

The Spanish tapas bar, which opens its doors for the first time on Monday, will be open every day from 9am to 11pm, serving coffee, cakes, drinks, snacks and meals.

Hot and cold tapas will be freshly prepared on the premises and served in traditional Spanish style.

Owner Phil Saunter said: "I've always been in love with Spain. Its wines, its food, and its culture, and I believe that this type of venue will offer a lot for the people of Old Town.

"We will be importing as much traditional Spanish produce as possible, including a wide range of Spanish wines.

"And there will be real Iberian ham carved from the bone."

The new venue will be open for families during the day and then will turn into a night-time venue during the evenings.

On Sunday lunchtimes it will offer a special paella dish, traditional in Spain.

For children there will be the doughnut-like churros on offer that can be dipped into special Spanish hot chocolate.

"I promise this will be a vibrant and great addition to Wood Street," added Mr Saunter. "We are planning to get Flamenco guitarists in for special occasions."
