A MAN crept into a 15-year-old girl's bedroom and molested her while her six-year-old brother slept in the next bed.

Craig Parfitt, 31, of Coriander Way, admitted sexually assaulting the girl during a holiday in Florida.

The former Motorola worker pleaded guilty at Swindon Magistrates Court to one charge of indecently touching a 15-year-old girl.

The court heard that during one night on the holiday in October, Parfitt crept into the girl's bedroom and started kissing her against her will and making sexual advances.

Martin Guyll-Wiggins, defending, said: "He has always made a full and frank admission of what he has done and it is obvious that he regrets his actions to fullest.

"He knows that he is entirely culpable and that there is no excuse for his actions as he was the older person and she was below the age of consent.

"In his mind he misinterpreted signals coming from the victim that she wanted him to come to her room and that there was more between them than just a platonic relationship.

"These included notes from her inviting him to her bedroom.

"He did not believe that she did not consent, but in hindsight he can see that being the older party he is in the wrong whatever."

Mr Guyll-Wiggins also said that Parfitt was in a position of trust and that he realised that he breached that trust. He also knew that this was not a responsible action, especially with a six-year-old asleep nearby.

"The incident was a one-off and did not go very far and the fact that he is of previous good character should hopefully be in his favour," added Mr Guyll-Wiggins.

The magistrates warned Parfitt that he could face prison.

The case was adjourned until May 4 for sentencing and Parfitt was released on bail on condition he does not contact the girl or her family.
