PEOPLE will be seeing double in Gorse Hill every week from now on after a new group was launched for parents of twins and multiple births.

Saxone Barton, mother of 17 month-old twins Evony and Feri, has set up Bambinos twins and multiple births group with another mother of twins, Sarah Gardiner.

Saxone, 24, of Gorse Hill, said the town had been in need of a group like Bambinos for a while.

“When I found out I was having twins I was totally panicking,” said the youth worker.

“I was asking the lady who was scanning me if I was going to need a new car and if I was going to have to move house.

“People need this kind of support.

“They can come right from when they are pregnant and until their children are five. We didn’t have a group like this in Swindon.”

A total of 17 sets of multiple siblings and their parents attended the opening on Friday.

Saxone, who also has a four-year-old daughter called Tate, said: “I found having twins very different to when I had my first daughter. I found them much easier – I know it sounds completely insane. I don’t know if it is because they are my second and third children.

“When they were little it was very hard because one would cry, then the other would start crying and then my eldest daughter would start crying. Other than that though it’s quite fun. They’re great – they entertain each other.”

The group, which is also being helped by Monika Ireson and Hayley Nash, will meet every Friday at Gorse Hill Children’s Centre from 12.15pm until 1.45pm. The weekly sessions will include singing and snacks and will follow a theme every term – the current one is Noah’s Ark.

The ribbon was cut on Friday by two stars of West End musical Billy Elliott, Chloe and Kaitlyn Hill.

The twins, who live in Covingham and are pupils at Dorcan Academy, were there to show their support for the group.

The opening included cake, balloons and was a chance for the parents and children to get to know each other before sessions start on Friday.
