Coca-Cola Christmas Truck is heading to Swindon

This Is Wiltshire: Come to visit festive truck Come to visit festive truck

HOLIDAYS are coming – the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck is on its way to Swindon town centre.

On Friday the iconic red truck will be based at Wharf Green beneath the Big Screen to spread some joy and happiness to shoppers.

The star of the legendary advert will be touring the nation and making a special stop to the town between noon and 8pm. There will be a chance to have a festive photograph taken with the truck, among a snowy winter wonderland area, with a choir singing Christmas carols and Santa’s elves serving refreshingly chilled Coca-Cola drinks amid a festive vibe.

I will pass. I'm not particularly interested in visiting a lorry with a company's name on the side (with a santa, fake snow and elves attempting to fool people that they are experiencing "Christmas"). This event is not Christmas, it is an advert.

And they say 1 in 5 kids don't know the 'true meaning' of Christmas. There it is, right there. If only it could transform into a robot, too.

I love a can of coke but it's not the right message to be sending out to kids. It's not a healthy drink and is a cause of tooth decay and obesity.

OK so the Adver is happy to advertise Coca-Cola so can we now have a few adds for:

Carol Concerts,
Church Services,
Food banks,
Homeless shelters.

All of which IMHO have more to do with Christmas or are of real service to the community.

For me it's about extra time with family and friends, eating and drinking a little more than usual, spoiling people just because you have an excuse to, whilst just generally being a little bit nicer than I would normally (I know I should always be nice but it's much easier at christmas) that's why I love it. Happy Christmas everyone!
