A PAIR of abandoned kittens rescued from certain death have now found a new home – just in time for Christmas.

The moggies, who suffered from cat flu, were dumped in the middle of a field nearly three weeks ago and left to die.

Had they not been discovered by chance by kind strangers, rushed to Drove Veterinary Hospital and received intensive care from staff, the dehydrated siblings would not have survived.

Moved by the account of Tinsel and Claus’s harrowing story on the Adver website, Richard Rushton and his partner Shawn Warren immediately called Drove Vets and offered to adopt the seven-week-old kittens.

Richard, 32, of Walcot, said they both jumped at the opportunity to offer the animals a loving home.

“I saw them in a story on the website and what happened to them was just horrendous. They deserved more. We phoned the Drove vets straight away and booked an appointment to see them. They were just amazing.

“They really clung to life. When you read something like that your first thought ‘How could someone do something like that?’ They were young and defenceless.”

There was never any question of only adopting one of them and seperating the kittens, he added.

“I thought ‘They are together and we can’t split them up; it would be so unfair’,” added the Swindon Council employee.

“I went to see them and they were so full of life. They were playing with each other and cuddling.

“We want them to get settled after all they have been through. This is what any pet deserves.”
