TROWBRIDGE & DISTRICT LEAGUE DIVISION ONE: Bradley blow chance to go top
12:30pm Monday 27th January 2014 in Latest News
THE only fixture that survived in Division One was at Leighton Sports Centre in Westbury, where hosts North Bradley were dealt another blow to their hopes of finishing as champions after they suffered a shock 4-1 loss at the hands of The Lamb FC.
Chris Carr’s side now trail Freshford United by one point and have played a game more than the leaders which means their head-to-head in a fortnight's time is now a must-win game for Bradley.
Bradley fielded one of their strongest teams of the season, but their performance was lethargic and well below par, but nothing should be taken away from Tony Stevens' Lamb side who took the game to their hosts.
The result could have been even more embarrassing as they were denied by the woodwork on at least three occasions and had a few efforts cleared off the line.
Tom Blackman netted for Lamb to start them on the road to an upset, their lead was doubled by Sam Stevens whose goal took them into the half time break two goals to the good.
A second from Tom Blackman extended the lead for the Lamb and they looked to be in cruise, however they face a few anxious moments as Bradley tried to get back into the game.
The first coming when Reuben Spong reduced the arrears for the home side, Matt Coles then headed against the bar and Spong missed from the penalty spot as Bradley hopes of getting something from the game evaporated.
Having weathered the Bradley storm Lamb put the icing on the cake with their fourth of the game which came from Tom Parr who rifled home from 25 yards to wrapped up what was a superb win for the Trowbridge based side.
