POLICE in Swindon have released an e-fit of a man they are keen to identify following an attempted distraction burglary in the town.

A man called at an address in Northern Road around 7pm on Tuesday, February 18 stating he was from the water company and needed to check the water pressure.

The homeowner, in his eighties, escorted him into the kitchen where the man began running the taps. When asked for ID the man was unable to produce any and refused to give his name. A neighbour saw the man in the kitchen and came over to check everything was ok. When they entered the man left quickly without saying anything.

The man was described as white, approximately 5'10 tall, aged in his early thirities and of slim build with short dark brown messy hair. He was wearing dark jeans and a dark jacket.

Anyone who recognises the man pictured or who has any information about the incident is asked to contact DC Mark Harris on 101 or Crimestoppers on 101.
