NORTH Swindon Police are appealing for residents to make sure their garages and front doors are locked after opportunist thieves have struck in the area.
Bikes have been stolen from insecure garages in Ash Brake and Oakhurst this weekend and the offenders also broke the lock on another garage and rummaged around inside but did not take anything.
Meanwhile in Taw Hill, one thief opened someone’s front door and took bags from the hallway.
A police spokesman said: “It is always worth keeping the front door locked even when you are at home. Many people keep keys, bags and purses by the front door and criminals can be in and out in a matter of seconds while you are upstairs, or in the kitchen or garden.
“Enquiries are ongoing and we will be adjusting our patrols in order to catch these thieves.”
Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
