TROWBRIDGE & DISTRICT LEAGUE: Make ours a double

WESTBURY United Reserves manager Jason Edwards paid tribute to his Division One runners-up after they lifted two trophies in four days this week.
On Saturday, Westbury beat Lacock 2-0 to lift the A&B Cup at Warminster Town’s Weymouth Street ground, with Jack Hayward and Jono Price netting late goals as the Division Two champions had Stuart Tutty sent off.
Edwards’ men were victorious again as they beat Joe Martin’s side in the Knockout Cup final on Tuesday.
Westbury had keeper Leo Whitehead red-carded but goals from Gary Tugwell and Elliott Hughes sealed a 2-1 triumph at Melksham Town’s Conigre home, with Tom Lye on target for beaten Lacock.
“We’ve got a great nucleus of young players and a lot of them have made first-team appearances this year,” said Edwards.
“There weren’t any flukes in us getting to the two finals and we rode our luck a bit in the second one, but I think we deserved it in the end – it’s been a very good season for us.”
Lacock are hoping that it will be third time lucky when they take on Trowbridge Town Reserves in the Spring Cup Final at Westbury United’s Meadow Lane tonight.
Manager Martin said: “I hope that we can win it – we have run out of steam a little bit.
“We’ve had a really good year and Pete Ralph and Martin Bradfield deserve a lot of credit for how much they’ve helped us this season.”
