A WOMAN has suffered 'life-changing' injuries after being involved in a collision with a car in Baydon.
Several officers and paramedics were on the scene in Barley Fields, near Aldbourne Road, yesterday just after 4pm.
Initially police believed the 74-year-old, who lives in the area, had not suffered any life-changing or life-threatening injuries.
However, police confirmed this morning that she had been flown to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance with life changing injuries to her leg and hip. She also suffered facial injuries.
A spokesman from South West Ambulance Service said yesterday: "We were called at 4pm.
"We have a paramedic in a car on the scene, an ambulance and the air ambulance is there."
Marlborough Neighbourhood Policing Team posted on their Facebook yesterday: "Several officers and paramedics are dealing with a female pedestrian that has been knocked down in Baydon."
The road was also closed to motorists at the junction of Oxford road and Lottage road, and also at the junction of Aldbourne Road by Downsmead.
The Thamesdown Transport bus from Marlborough, which was due at the village just before 4.15pm, stopped a short distance away and passengers walked to the village.
