LOUISE Hunt could reflect on a positive performance at the Toyota Open International de L’ile de Re event in France, despite being denied victories in France this weekend.
Great Britain Paralympian Hunt, who turned 27 last month, produced a season’s best performance in the women’s singles draw at the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour event, upsetting world number seven Katharina Kruger, of Germany, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) in a tight quarter-final to reach the last four.
There, the Wanborough woman was edged out by world number 11 Dana Matthewson, of the United States, who had defeated Hunt’s compatriot world number six Lucy Shuker at the quarter-final stage.
Hunt went even close to glory in the women’s doubles, with partner Kgothatso Montjane, of South Africa.
The duo saw off France’s Charlotte Famin and Mathewson 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals of the event, but were then themselves beaten 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 in a closely-contested final by Kruger and Shuker
