Marshfield made a storming start to life in the Wiltshire League with a pair of victories.

The team, managed by former Chippenham Town defender Shane Andrews, opened up with a fine 4-2 Division One win at Swindon side Pembroke on Saturday.

Pete Tye and Andy Jefferies both scored twice On Tuesday night, the new boys trailed at half time against Malmesbury Victoria Reserves.

However they turned things around after the break, Bobby Jenkins latching on to Dan Bowden’s through ball to equalise two minutes after the restart.

The winner arrived on 65 minutes as Bowden fired home a free-kick.

Calne Town Reserves opened their season on Tuesday night against Soutbrook, running out winners 2-0 thanks to a 20-yard free kick from Ben Munns and a close range effort from Jamie Lloyd-Davies in the second half.

Marlborough Town were beaten 2-1 at home by Shrewton, who netted both goals in the first half.

The home side rallied after the break and pulled a goal back from the penalty spot courtesy of Giovani Disando.

Gavin Allen scored the only goal for Purton Redhouse against Moredon Cheney on the hour and was then sent off after a second yellow card.

Newcomers Chalke Valley and AFC Amesbury treated spectators to an entertaining game with victory eventually going the way of Chalke Valley 3-2. Seb Dawes, Josh Baldwin and Tozzie Judd netted for the home side.

On Saturday, the revamped Wiltshire League got underway with the Premier Division consisting of 18 teams and Division One with 17.

Marlborough Town got the new campaign off to a good start with a 1-0 away victory over Southbrook, formerly Westside, their new signing Colin Yates on target.

Devizes Town, under new manager Trevor Vowles, were held to a 2-2 draw by Premier newcomers AFC Npower, Nathan Emms scoring both goals for the home side.

FC Chippenham Youth also had a new manager, Dave Ferris, at the helm and his side ran out 5-0 winners over visitors RGV Shrewton.

Mark Nolan (2), Tom Jones, Josh Hodges and an own goal sealed the visitors' fate.
