THREE Chinese teenagers have admitted coming to Swindon to cheat shopkeepers with dodgy credit cards.

The men came from London in June with a number of cards and tried to buy £1,500 worth of gift vouchers from town centre stores.

Zian-Qui Zhang, Jie He, and a 17-year-old all pleaded guilty to charges of going "equipped to cheat" on Saturday, June 17.

They admitted having unlawful articles, namely credit cards, which they were not authorised to use which they had in the course of cheating.

Zhang,19, also admitted attempting to obtain gift vouchers worth £500 from HMV on the same day.

He,18, admitted trying to obtain a Sony digital camcorder from Jessops and, along with the third youth, also pleaded guilty to a separate joint charge of trying to get £500 of vouchers from HMV.

The 17-year-old denied a charge of obtaining £500 worth of gift vouchers from JD Sports.

Zhang, of Hendon, north London, was remanded in custody and the other two, who are both of Woolwich, East London, were released on bail.

Richard Thomas, prosecuting, said the Crown Prosecution Service accepted the pleas of the three men.

He said the three men came as a group and the cards were divided between them and used by different members of the group.

A fourth man, Qi Xue, 21, of Bradfield Square, Swindon, denied going "equipped for cheat"and obtaining £500 of Marks and Spencer vouchers by deception.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to face trial by jury in December.
