RAYCHEM continued their strong start to the Regional 2 season with a 35-24 win over Hucclecote B.

The home team began well but suffered a setback when they lost inspirational centre Louise Binnie to injury part way through the second quarter.

However, the strength in the squad meant that a change was made with minimal disruption.

Strong defending from the back three of Tracy Watt, Hayley Lawrence and Claire Baverstock coupled with intelligent centre court play from Lisa Heath and Hayley Reeve, meant that shooters Jenny Gray and Samantha Parker were able to convert chances and secure the win.

Coach Mo Squires awarded player of the match to veteran Tracy Watt.

Raychem travel to Bristol on Saturday to play Premier Romans.

Abbey Meads stayed top of Regional 3 courtesy of a 49-35 victory over Trident.

They led 17-7 at the end of the first quarter and continued to dominate in the second.

A number of changes in the third allowed Trident to come back into proceedings.

However, the system was changed for the final quarter and Abbey won that section of the contest.

Jules Hewitt was player of the match following an outstanding performance.

Abbey Meads C were defeated 46-26 by Croft despite being just two behind after the first quarter.

The aggressive Croft outfit cranked up the pressure after that and strong centre court passes made it difficult for Abbey to intercept.

Croft were out to score heavily and the heads of Abbey’s players went down.

In the final quarter, Croft drove home their advantage to triumph comfortably.

Abbey Meads D were 37-24 winners over Jets A while Abbey’s development side lost 25-13 to Faringdon.

The development team were level at half-time but fell away in the second part of the game. Player of the match was Daisy Mussard.

Abbey Meads’ junior team were defeated in their first league match after only forming a matter of weeks ago.

Coach Zoe Bagwell is hopeful that the team will continue to enjoy themselves as they go in search of their first win.
