RUGBY: Corsham 7 Dorchester 3
CORSHAM ground out their fourth Southern Counties South win of the season as they edged a tight battle at Lacock Road.
The home side started at pace, the forwards driving Ed Minty over the line, only for the try to be disallowed by an unsighted referee.
Dorchester’s attacks had the home side scrambling in defence, but they went close again when Pete Hynes was tackled just short of the visitors’ line.
Awarded a penalty, Corsham chose to run but were held up and the chance was lost.
Dorchester missed a penalty to get the scoreboard moving before half time but Corsham started the second half with a greater level of control, through the boots of Will Chivers and Dave Finlay and lineout work from Jake Oldaker and Guy Cooke.
This resulted in try for centre Rob Holden, who drove hard over the line converted by captain Finlay.
Dorchester responded with a penalty and put the home side under pressure, Corsham number eight Ben Russell being yellow-carded.
This galvanised the side, who finished strongly with Liam Snape going close.
