FOOTBALL: Corsham Town 2 Chard Town 0

GOALS in each half from Jackson Hamilton and Gary Banks secured all three points for Corsham Town and extended their unbeaten Toolstation League First Division run to eight matches, writes CARL FIELD.
Centre forward Hamilton put the hosts ahead on 21 minutes after Jamal Chevolleau’s cross from the left sparked a goalmouth scramble, before Banks secured all three points with a smart finish on 68 minutes.
It was a game Corsham dominated from the outset - and the win should have been even more convincing - against a poor Chard outfit who offered little going forward.
The hosts seized the initiative right from the outset, forcing three early corners, before their early dominance was rewarded with a deserved opener.
Chevolleau’s ball in from the left sparked panic in the Chard defence and, after a melee inside the six-yard box, Hamilton got the final touch, putting the ball in from close range.
Provider very nearly turned goalscorer three minutes after the break, with Chevolleau cutting in from the right edge of the Chard box on his left foot, but his low shot across keeper Jason Hutchings agonisingly rebounded back off the inside of the post and away from danger.
Chevolleau had his head in his hands again two minutes past the hour mark after wasting a golden opportunity to extend the lead, shooting straight at Hutchings when well placed.
But it didn’t ultimately prove costly, as Corsham made the game safe six minutes later, with Banks finding the net to cap the win and avenge their 2-0 defeat to Chard in the reverse fixture back in November.
