WESTLECOT men enter an important phase that will make or break their bid to reach the end-of-season play-offs for the Wessex League title.
Owing to an enforced bye, a rearrangement and then bad weather, they have only played one match in the east section since November 11.
However, Westlecot are the only unbeaten side in the East Region of the Wessex League in the nine-team table, having won all four of their matches to date.
Despite the lack of activity, the Old Town indoor side are handily-placed in third spot.
That is just eight points behind Carterton and seven behind West Berks, who they still have to play, but with a game in hand on both.
For the next four weeks, Westlecot will play every Sunday morning to complete their East Region fixtures in their quest to gain a top-two placing and an automatic place in the last 16.
They face a tough encounter tomorrow (10am) as they take on their old adversaries West Berks (Newbury), but a win would certainly ease the pressure as the table looks like a three-horse race between Carterton, West Berks and Westlecot.
Practically the whole of the Wessex squad are available tomorrow, the notable exception of Neil Smith who is away on national championship duty in Hampshire.
