WILTSHIRE eventer Alicia Hawker won the open title at British Eventing’s Jumping and Style (JAS) competition at Hand Equestrian Centre in Clevedon last Saturday.
The youngster from Hullavington near Chippenham triumphed aboard Nankin Des Rouettes in the highest level of competition.
Hawker had previously served notice of her considerable potential by ending 2012 competing up to international 2* level, while she was also in the top 10 of the national under 18 championships, once more in partnership with Nankin.
The JAS series is an arena event with a combination of showjumps and cross country fences, intended to help combinations prepare for the season ahead.
Combinations are judged on style as well as technique, with the style mark converted to penalty points and added to any cross country or jumping penalties for the final score.
Hawker said: “I am hoping to catch the eye of the British Young Rider Team selectors this season, so it’s great to be getting him out to a competition where there is a lot to look at pre-season.
“It is also great to get to ride cross country-type lines in a competition environment.”
JAS continues this weekend at Bury Farm in Buckinghamshire.
