New Swindon Town chairman Andrew Fitton has revealed financial guru Russell Backhouse is the final member of the club's incoming board.

Fitton's consortium now owns 75 per cent of the club, with Fitton taking over as chairman, Nick Watkins becoming chief executive and Jeremy Wray and Backhouse joining the board alongside James Wills.

The Wills family own 18 per cent of the club, Cliff Puffett owns half a per cent and Willie Carson still owns 1.5 per cent.

Multi-millionaire Sir Martin Arbib will not be part of the board, but is a shareholder.

Fitton, speaking at the press conference to unveil new manager Maurice Malpas, said: "There was a slight technicality over some paperwork that needed sorting, but it's now done and Swindon Football Holdings are now the owners - we're completely in control of the club.

"I am the single largest shareholder, Jeremy Wray is a shareholder and is on the board and Sir Martyn Arbib is a shareholder.

"Sir Martyn is doing it because we asked him, he is local and has a house in Ramsbury, and he's keen to support something fun that might otherwise have died.

"He was at the game the other day and he thoroughly enjoyed it - he said it was worth twice the entrance fee.

"He won't be joining the board because he spends half the year out of the country so he wouldn't be around to make decisions, but he's involved.

"Jeremy Wray is on the board and so is Russell Backhouse, whose name you won't be familiar with.

"He's the chief financial officer for everything I'm involved in, and he's from Ramsbury too.

"I want a relatively small board and we're aiming to keep on improving the club gradually."
