WILTSHIRE remain unbeaten in their British Darts Organisation Division Three inter-county championship campaign after a 19-17 victory away at Norfolk.

Ally Thomson was the first game on in the Ladies B section but fell to a 3-1 defeat, before wins for Norma Gould and April Polden made the score 2-1 in Wiltshire’s favour.

Losses for Ally Harrison,Jan Murphy and Carol Rich meant that the men went into their section two behind, but 3-0 wins for Rob Higginson and Terry Smith levelled the scores before Paul Oakley lost his match by the same score.

Fifteen-year-old Jack Tweddell won his first county match at the second attempt to put Wiltshire level, and when the returning Tony Clark easily won his game they edged in front.

The lead was short lived as Clive Taylor lost a last leg decider, but the county need not have worried as consecutive wins for David Gould, Barry Cadd and 14-year-old Josh McCarthy made the score 9-6 to Wiltshire.

Pete Harris lost his match before excellent victories for Paul Woolf and Ron Ashton made the overnight score 11-7 to Wiltshire.

An early start on Sunday saw Wiltshire Ladies A take on their strong counterparts.

A good start was urgently required and it could not have been worse as Juan Hopkins, Dave Wicks and Chris Daglish all lost and Wiltshire were suddenly 15-12 behind.

An impressive Paul Boulton reduced the deficit before teenager Chris Aubrey produced a brilliant performance and a 30.48 average in a 3-2 win.

John Newland lost his match 3-1 before Mark Cox easily dispatched his opponent and the score was 16-15 to Norfolk.

Tony Clark, in his second appearance of the weekend, brought the scores level once more with a 110 checkout in a last leg decider, and when Garry Ellis lost his match 3-1, Wiltshire were one down with three to play.

Terry Wood, on his A team debut, brushed past his opponent with ease and the scores were level, while Lee Evans with a 28.00 average and a terrific performance then put Wiltshire one up with one to play.

When the ever-reliable Bob Bowers went 2-1 down, Wiltshire looked to be heading for a share of the league points, but Bob dug deep and produced two good legs under pressure to gain a 3-2 win and gave Wiltshire the victory.
