Headquarters is the place to be next week for a cracking three days of sport at Newmarket with the staging of the hugely popular July meeting.

The action gets underway on Wednesday with the Group One UAE Equestrian And Racing Federation Falmouth Stakes taking top billing.

Won for the last two years by the brilliant mare Soviet Song, the James Fanshawe-trained six-year-old is likely to be given a serious examination by fellow Royal Ascot heroine Nannina in a race to savour.

Supplementing the Falmouth is the Chippenham Lodge Stud Cherry Hinton Stakes over six furlongs which should also be one for the purists.

The following day's card features the Group Two Princess of Wales's wbx.com Stakes, a 12-furlong contest for three-year-olds and upwards.

The Group Two TNT July Stakes should also be a high-octane affair, with up to £70,000 in prize money at stake.

Friday's meeting sees the £360,000 Darley July Cup take centre stage.

The Weatherbys Superlative Stakes and the Ladbrokes Bunbury Cup, a competitive seven-furlong handicap, are sure to keep punters entranced for the full afternoon.

Decent races are littered throughout the calendar at the weekend, with the Listed Chester City Wall Stakes on the Roodee, and the Group Three Ladbrokes Silver Trophy at Lingfield ones to note.

But after hosting a great card on the Friday - featuring the Group Three Cuisine de France Summer Stakes - York's Saturday card, with the £150,000 John Smith's Cup over 10 furlongs, is the highlight.

Sunday is a day not to be missed in Ireland, with the Darley Irish Oaks likely to see Alexandrova, runaway winner of the English equivalent.
