While it is right and proper that Karen Edwards has received an apology for the "poorly progressed and supervised" enquiry into her daughter's murder, it is incomprehensible that the Chief Constable was subject to what can best be described as a slap on the wrist.
Even after receiving the damning IOPC report the most senior officer in Wiltshire still makes an attempt to negate his personal failings by suggesting 'confusion concerning the oversight of the investigation was due in part to the major crime collaboration being in its infancy'.
As fictional head of AC12 Supt.Ted Hastings might say. “Oh Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey".
I'm sure it won't be long before we read that Mr Pritchard has decided to retire after a lifetime of service to the community.
Having played a major role in the Wiltshire Police forces being labelled inadequate, the only surprise is that he remains in office.
